A recurring prayer request among the teachers I am blessed to know is for God to give them an abundance of His amazing love. They recognize their need to love the unlovely, be it student, parent, co-worker, or administrator. In light of this, and knowing that most teachers have headed back to school, I am praying 1 Corinthians 13 for these precious educators, whether they teach public or private, pre-school or grad school, Sunday school or homeschool.

Father, God, You alone know what this year holds, the surprises and triumphs, the mundane and the tragedies. We ask that You would supernaturally provide for those teachers who know You. We ask that they would fully recognize what a great privilege they have to shine Your light as they teach, let their example lead others to You! Help those who are not teaching to weekly lift them up in prayer, trusting You will provide for these educators through Your Spirit and us, Your body.
Lord, provide teachers everywhere with patience, that long suffering that continues to endure with tenacious perseverance. Please infuse each teacher supernaturally with Your loving kindness that is not envious, does not brag, is not puffed up or full of itself, but rather acts becomingly, seeking what is best for Your name and not itself. Help teachers to never keep a list of wrongs or rejoice in what isn’t right. When they are frustrated and tempted to hold a grudge and grumble and gossip, instead, call to their mind what is right so they may rejoice in Your truth. Lord, just like the rest of us, teachers cannot bear all things, hope all things, endure all things, but You can through them. Give them Your love so that they can. Give them Your love that never, ever fails. In Your holy Son’s name, amen!
