I am away from my local church family this morning, but praying God to give us the attitude of Christ and the unity of His Spirit to exalt Him, from Philippians 2:2-18.
Dear Lord, help our church family to be of the same mind, maintaining the same love, unified in spirit, intent on Your purpose, so that the gospel message will dwell richly among us and draw those who do not know You to You. Let us do nothing out of selfish desires or vain and empty conceit, but in humbleness think of others more highly than ourselves, lifting up the interest of others above ourselves.
Help us to have the attitude of Christ within us, to emulate His example as He lived like a servant while He was on this earth. Though He existed in the form of God, He did not take advantage of His power or glory, but emptied Himself to take on the form of a bond-slave to take on our form for our sakes. He was obedient even to the point of a humiliating and excruciating death on the cross, so that God would then exalt Him and so that every knee will bow before Him and every tongue confess that He is Lord.
Let us do everything to exalt Him and spread His message as we obey, continuing on in the good work of our salvation (which we could never earn, it is free gift of God, so that we will not boast in ourselves, but Him alone) fill us with the Spirit to be controlled by Him so that we may do everything without complaining or grumbling, proving by our behavior to be innocent children of God, living distinctly different from the rest of the world, clinging steadfastly to Your Word so that all who have poured their life-blood into discipline us will be able to be proud to rejoice in the day of Christ with us. In Your holy name, Amen!
